An erect, multi to single-stemmed tree producing aerial prop roots;

with evergreen, opposite, leathery leaves. Yellow, star-shaped flowers are followed by

conical, fleshy fruits that germinate while still attached to the plant.

This is one of the most valuable plants of the south Florida shoreline,

and provides excellent wildlife habitat.
